Successful Autumn Synod

Saturday 8th September saw nearly 100 Methodists from all over Cumbria gather at Stricklandgate Methodist Church in Kendal for the Autumn Synod. The Synod took ‘Our Calling’ as it’s theme and we were all challenged to make this coming year a year of testimony, sharing our stories with others.  Rev Richard Teal was in fine form as he chaired his penultimate Synod; his trousers were admired by all!

Bevan Powell the Methodist Church’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Adviser came to lead discussions on Marriage & Relationships. This is the start of on-going conversations within the whole Methodist Church on this subject.

With a challenging presentation from Amanda Gorton the Rural Chaplaincy Co-ordinator;  Rev D Newlove sharing ideas on how local pastors can benefit our churches; and testimony from our own Marc Jackson the morning session was full of interest.

The afternoon session was covered more business items; the first being the vote on the nomination brought to the meeting for Rev Dr James Tebbutt as our next Chair of District from 1st September 2019.  The nomination was approved.

Huge thanks goes to all those who helped make the day such a success.  Your smiles and welcome were remarked on by many.
